My First Easter

Here are some pictures from my first Easter.
Friday:

We colored Easter eggs.

My fingers got stained.

The finished product.

I got a card from my great grandma.

I received a huge Easter basket from my Great Uncle Tom, Great Aunt Teresa, and Brandon. I liked all the fun goodies!
Sunday:
We got up and got ready for church.

I got to wear my tie and new Easter shoes.

We took some pictures outside.

Then we took some pictures with my friends at church.

Emerson and I were Mindy's Easter basket.

Allison and I were not enjoying the "paparazzi" flashes.

We ate Easter dinner with Aunt Beth and Uncle Evan. They took pictures with us outside.
Monday (this has nothing to do with Easter):

We tried bananas today. They tasted very different from what I am used to eating. I think mom will have to keep working on these with me.

Ryker's Birth

Ryker was due October 18th. When that date came and went and I was already dilating, the doctor told us we'd have to make a decision by Thursday. We were, reluctantly, scheduled to induce Thursday at 5:15am. We wanted to avoid any interventions and let him arrive on God's schedule. We were also hoping to avoid using an epidural. We thought this was all going to be jeopardized with the induction. We went to bed Wednesday night with lots of hesitation regarding the next morning's procedure, but trusting that everything would work out according to His plan.
At 3am, I woke up with, what felt like, contractions. When Jevon woke up at 4:45 I told him about the contractions and he told me that they were just wishful thinking :)
We started timing them and they were about 7 min apart. We decided to head to the hospital and see what they said. If it was real labor then we'd just cancel our induction.
We checked in the hospital and I was, indeed, in real labor. Praise the LORD!
Our nurse and doctor were absolutely wonderful. They understood our desire to deliver naturally and allowed us to do so. Jevon was an outstanding coach. When the pain got really bad my breathing went out the window. He kept my breathing steady and encouraged me through the whole time. He stood next to me and continued to guide my breathing through it all. The last hour was intense! I went into a zone...no breathing, eyes shut tightly, Jevon holding my hand, praying silently to get through each contraction. Then came time to push. It took 30 minutes of pushing. Jevon held my leg and got to watch it all. I remember seeing him get this giant smile on his face when the head crowned, and I got this rush of adrenaline. Our nurse was so great guiding us and leading us in the pushing, and Dr. Jarrett kept our mood light and yet focused. Two contractions after he crowned, Ryker was here. It took 13 hours from my first contraction at 3:10am til he was here at 4:10pm. The whole family is doing superbly!
God is amazing! AMAZING!

How did you come up with that name?

So, where did we get "Ryker Jadon"? We wanted a first name that paid tribute to Jevon's late father, Roger. After much searching we decided upon Ryker because we thought it sounded strong (like an athlete) and it was spelled so closely to Roger.
We looked for a middle name that was smiliar to Jevon. Jevon didn't want to use his name because he wanted Ryker to have his very own identity. Jadon was very close to his name though and we liked how it sounded. It means "God has heard". God indeed heard our prayers and delivered Ryker Jadon in His perfect timing. We are so blessed!
